Editorial Statement
Established in honor of William Alphonso Murrill (1869–1957), a pioneering mycologist of the Southeastern United States and founding editor of Mycologia, Murrillia provides a scholarly forum for the study of fungi within the southeastern region of North America. With an emphasis on field-based research, taxonomic discovery, and ecological documentation, the journal welcomes contributions from both professional and amateur mycologists.
Murrillia upholds the tradition of rigorous natural history while embracing the evolving landscape of mycological inquiry. It is our goal to foster collaboration, promote regional biodiversity research, and elevate the contributions of independent researchers and field naturalists whose work often parallels that of Murrill himself.
